Murray Irrigation Limited (MIL) is the largest private environmental and irrigation water delivery company in Australia, formed as an unlisted public company in March 1995 when the NSW Government privatised its Murray irrigation area and districts. The company’s irrigators are also shareholders and include 2,100 landholdings across 724,000 hectares in the Southern Riverina.
The CEO is the key management leader and representative of MIL and responsible for communicating and aligning the team to deliver the strategic objectives and is accountable for all investments and operations of the business in Australia.
The role and head office are based in Deniliquin, NSW and the successful candidate will need to be located in the local area/MIL footprint in a full-time capacity and be conscious of the requirements of holding a high-profile position in the region. The CEO is accountable for water distribution, water exchange, capital and maintenance infrastructure works, water control, customer relations, stakeholder management (including governments and their authorities), technology and IP, people, work health & safety and financial control.
The role will suit a commercially astute leader with proven successful private enterprise experience in agriculture or agribusiness (the water sector will be an advantage). This role requires strong public speaking skills with the ability to communicate and engage with a wide range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with an acute sense of commercial reality. You will have senior leadership experience with well-developed emotional intelligence, courage, humility and patience along with proven transformational change management, negotiation and influencing skills.
